Accessibility

Handiplats aims to make finding and contributing accessible parking places usable for everyone. We use WCAG 2.2 Level AA as a reference and Apple’s accessibility evaluation criteria for the iPhone and iPad app.
Current status
Accessibility improvements are ongoing. We have not completed a full conformance evaluation and do not currently claim full WCAG 2.2 AA compliance. The features below describe implementation work; availability depends on your installed app version. End-to-end testing with assistive technologies is still needed.
iPhone and iPad app
VoiceOver
The app includes spoken labels for map pins and controls. Parking details, search results and saved places provide text information. Location adjustment buttons offer an alternative to dragging the map when adding a place.
Voice Control
Visible button names and accessibility labels help you refer to controls by name. When adding a place, North, South, East and West buttons adjust the selected location.
Larger Text
The app uses Dynamic Type for text. Key parking action rows stack vertically at accessibility text sizes, and scrollable content allows more room for larger text.
Dark Interface
The app follows the device’s light or dark appearance. Standard surfaces and text adapt to that setting.
Differentiate Without Color Alone
Parking ratings use words and thumbs-up or thumbs-down symbols. A checkmark also indicates your selected vote, so selection is not communicated by color alone.
Sufficient Contrast
We use system text colors on standard surfaces and darker backgrounds for selected votes and announcement buttons. Contrast across every screen, map style and appearance still needs a complete device audit.
Reduced Motion
The app includes Reduce Motion handling for map camera changes, button scaling and decorative effects. Enable Reduce Motion in Settings > Accessibility > Motion.
Captions
The app currently has no prerecorded audio or video that requires captions. This is not a claim that caption playback has been tested or certified.
Audio Descriptions
The app currently has no prerecorded video that requires an audio description track. Map imagery and Look Around are visual content; text addresses and parking details provide location information, but do not describe every visual feature.
Known limitations and testing
Map exploration, clustered pins, Look Around, subscription purchase sheets and the largest text sizes need further testing on physical devices with VoiceOver and Voice Control. Third-party map information and community contributions may be incomplete. Website accessibility has not yet been fully audited.
